The Foundation's basic purpose is to create and run grant programmes enabling young graduates to specialize and to give young researchers in the Basque Country the scientific and technological training they need to make their way in the job market, thereby promoting the innovation culture.
Iņaki Goenaga Technology Centre Foundation grants are awarded in the frame of a research project conducted by a player in the Basque Science, Technology and Innovation Network, of which the Foundation itself is also a member.
For a number of reasons, the Foundation considers that the work done in recent years has had clear benefits for society in general.
To begin with, the scientific and technological training our grant holders receive effectively opens the door to jobs for 90% of them.
Our grants also help reinforce the Basque Country's Science-Technology-Business-Society system, as many of our grant holders join one or other of the players in the Basque Science, Technology & Innovation network once they have completed their training.
Finally, another objective is to spread the innovation culture throughout society. Many of our grant holders occupy posts of responsibility in the companies in which they subsequently pursue their professional careers and the Foundation feels a certain modest satisfaction in having been able to help in their training and having imbued them with the values of innovation as a source of wealth.
